HOW TO DO IT....

NECESSARY EQUIPMENT AND HOOK UPS for recording EVP

(Above)

You will need to purchase your digital recorder, and a patch cord to connect it to your computer.

Average price ranges from $30-$60 for the recorders. DO NOT pay a lot of money for your recorder...here's why:

The IC components (lower range bit rate)of your digital is what provides the "white noise" energy necessary for the voices to be produced.... an expensive digital may have a more refined IC version which makes for a super quiet recording...thus no EVP...

Displayed here are two typical modestly priced digital recorders available at most any electronics store such as Radio Shack, Fryes, etc

This photo shows the necessity for your digital to have an ear phone female connection. MAKE SURE THIS IS ON YOUR DIGITAL BEFORE YOU BUY.

To transfer your audio recordings to your PC, the patch cord is plugged into your digital recorder ear jack, and the other end of your patch cord is plugged into your microphone input on the back of your PC.

NEXT...getting the EVP sound segments onto your PC

Now, we have shown you the proper equipment needed and how to connect ....assuming at this point you have a recording to listen to, you should go ahead and connect both ends of the patch cord as described above.

1. Now go to your start selector button, click, go to programs, then to accessories, then to entertainment. Under this category, you will see your sound recorder. Click on it and it will appear on your desk top. Recommend you have other programs off at this point.

IMPORTANT

EVP cannot be processed properly without a good audio system. Your PC will have a good internal system, but you must make sure the sound is reproduced by an adequate system of amplification and speakers as well.

For best results in audio processing, use a good quality headphone set . Make sure the frequency response is 20-20,000 hz min. and make sure the foam covers the entire ear, pulling closely to the head around the ears and shutting out unnecessary sound !

NOW, you are hooked up, and have your headsets plugged into the speaker jack on back of your PC, right ?

NEXT, you start playing your recording, and you will hear the sound come through the headsets...make sure your volume is set up correctly.

Watch your desktop, and have your mouse placed in position to hit the record button on your desktop sound recorder. When you hear something that sounds like a whispering voice, (that shouldn't be there)...then hit your recorder button and record it. Hit the stop record when the voice is finished talking, and hit the stop button on your recorder. Note the numbered location of your message you just recorded. Next, go to file (upper left) and make a folder to place your audio sample in. Then go back, take up at the number where you left off, and find your next EVP for recording.

This takes a wee bit of practice to get smooth at this , but you will soon be playing your digital and your PC recording system like a violin.

AFTER RECORDING MY EVP SAMPLES, HOW DO I PROCESS THE FILES SO I CAN HEAR THEM BETTER ?

GO to this website, and download the free WAVEPAD SOFTWARE. It is not as difficult to use as the Adobe Audition, and it will give you valuable practice and learning experience while you stockpile the cash for your biggest software purchase.

ALWAYS use the wavepad to listen to your EVP ! ..........ALWAYS view the waveforms when you are listening to or processing EVP !
